On each line below, shade in the boxes containing digits with the indicated place values. (Please note that the decimal point is not in the same position in each numeral).

You will end up with the name of something you always have with you!

Task Description: The four student teachers created another activity. Today we had to try and figure out the secret word. We had to fill in the place values, for example. If it says thousands, we have to colour in the thousands column. After we were done, we had to try and figure out the word, and trust me. Me and Simon had a struggle finding out what the word is.

MATARIKI DAY-RECOUNT

Friday the 26th of June Point England School celebrated Matariki Day very early. The day started off by Team 5 having assembly. I ended up saying the school mihi and Nesi did the karakia for Room 2.

Team 5 recently formed a choir. I was in the choir and for the past week we were practising a song based on MATARIKI.
The choir got an opportunity to go up in front of the whole school to sing the Matariki song at assembly.  After we performed we had our senior Kapa Haka group came on stage. They were incredible - they sang and danced so beautifully.

After school assembly, we went straight to our home class to see what class we would have to be in for Matariki Day. My class was Arts and Crafts with Mrs Stone and Mrs Carruthers. At first I didn’t really like it but then I got used to it.

For my Matariki activity, we had to colour in seven stars and we also had to paint a beautiful background for our stars. I had a theme and it was based on the sunset. The colours were RED, ORANGE AND YELLOW.

Task description: Today we wrote about what happened on Matariki day at Point England School-Last week.

Special Assembly!!

On June the 12th, Point England School had a very special assembly. This is going to be all about our principal Mr Burt and Mrs Burt. Mr Burt got a special award from the Queen, the Queen Of England.

Mr Burt is the kindest person in the world. He helps people and pays for camp and other cool actives. He always does our needs before he does his needs.

That why we (Pt England School + Staff) wanted to make this a very special day for him. He didn’t know that we were doing this. It was going to be a surprise for him. We sang a waiata (song) for Mr Burt and Mrs Burt.

Then boys did an amazing haka for Mr and Mrs Burt. Some people joined in the haka as well. We had some special people who came to say a speech for Mr Burt and even the prefects stepped in to say something special.

In the News - Room 2 Literacy

Task description: This week my class and I read something about a turtle that was found on NZ.

Writing Wk 8 & 9 - Aesop’s Fables

WALT: construct a narrative text

On the 27 of March, I was swimming with my mother and father and also with my siblings in the clear blue ocean . I went out to look for some food . I swam until I found a delicious red crab that looked like it had lots of flesh to eat . I was paddling back home but then something traumatic happened to me.

A huge wave pushed and shoved me onto jagged rocks. I felt like I could never swim or move again. More waves came....

Suddenly I found myself on a beach. Lots of strange people started to gather around me and stare. Even dogs came and they were barking at me aggressively. I started to rage with anger…. because I was starving.

People started to touch me like I was their pet. Minutes later…... A few people came closer to me, picked me up and took me into an ambulance for animals . They were driving for a long time as if we were on a road trip!!

I was taken to an unfamiliar place. I saw many turtles there but I didn’t really mind them .

Owuch Something painful went into my flipper. I screamed at the top of my lungs

The strange people put me into a deep coma. I didn’t wake up for 2 weeks. I felt better but I really wanted to be my family .

Lots of lights pointing at me. I was about to be blind. I didn’t have the energy to eat so I put a feeding tube on me. Right now I am recovering from my traumatic injury.
